MuSa - Museo Storico Ambientale

The MuSa (Historical-Environmental Museum) was established in 2007 in a restored building, the old "Casa della Mina", which rests partly on the walls of the northeast side of the Castle of San Giorgio di Pesaro. The outdoor garden, suspended on the ancient walls of the castle, is a small botanical garden adorned with tree essences, aromatic and medicinal plants. On the ground floor are located the rooms dedicated to beekeeping and honey production, silkworm farming, silkworm breeding and the production of precious fabrics, with an exhibition of tools and materials related to this type of work; on the first floor you can admire the rich taxidermy collection with over two hundred stuffed animals donated by Mr. Vittorio Branchini, a testimony of an art that boasts an ancient local tradition.

The "MuSa" is a place of research and knowledge of a territory and its inhabitants and tells, through the different sections, the close link between some traditional activities and the environment with its faunistic and floristic components. The themes related to ancient local crafts that boast a centuries-old tradition are developed: the breeding of bees, insects of fundamental importance for the whole planet, and the production of artisanal honey; the breeding of silkworms and the processing of yarn for the production of precious fabric; the art of embalming for the preservation of bodies after death; the cultivation of herbs and medicinal, medicinal and aromatic plants. Especially in the spring months, the museum is a destination for numerous student visits from some provinces of Marche and Romagna. On the first floor, you can find an exhibition room for exhibitions and conferences as well as a library with lectures suitable for all ages, used during opening hours by pupils of the Primary School of San Giorgio di Pesaro e Piagge, as well as the students of the Secondary School of first degree.
