La Luna nell'Orto

The Moon in the Garden is a Biodynamic Farm and Holiday Home, managed by Renzo and Petra.
It was born from our idea, as a project to realize the aspiration of living in a peaceful place immersed in nature, following a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle, and at the same time being able to carry out our work activities.

In spring 2007 we purchased an old farmhouse in the Marche region, with five hectares of land, near Barchi, 30 km from the Adriatic coast, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, on the hills between the Metauro and Cesano Valleys. The renovation of the farmhouse and the adjacent house was carried out according to green building criteria. The buildings are lime plastered while the interior paintings and finishes are eco-friendly. Part of the buildings are constructed with straw bales and wooden structures. To produce electricity and hot water, we harness solar energy through both solar thermal panels and photovoltaic panels. Also, in the winter months, we heat with a wood-fired boiler to be totally self-sufficient. The rooms are illuminated by natural light that enters through large windows and French windows that open onto our garden and countryside. The land surrounding the houses is cultivated according to the criteria of biodynamic agriculture and produces fruits and vegetables, cereals and olive trees with organic certification. We have built a swimming biolake where the water is treated neither with chlorine nor with other chemical agents since it is equipped with a phytoremediation system. Nearby is an agricultural building, built in 2013, constructed of bales of straw, wood, clay, lime and tadelakt.

The place, after decades of abandonment, has returned to being lived and cared for.
